My 10 on the Tenth DIY Challenge A Roving Yarn Pumpkin

Hey there, to day I am joining some ladies who are challenged to do a diy for ten dollars or under.  Our theme for this month is Fall.  It could be fall anything as long as it stays ten dollars or under.

My diy is another yarn pumpkin.  I am calling it a yarn roving pumpkin.  It was so fun and easy to do.  First I took a dollar store pumpkin and cut out a small hole in the center of the pumpkin.

I then cut my roving yarn in strips to fit from the top to bottom of the pumpkin.  After that I started hot gluing the strips on.  I didn’t pull hard on this yarn because if you do it does tear easily.

I used a skewer to push the ends of the yarn into the top of the pumpkin.  This really helps to give it some dimension to it.  After that just keep gluing your pieces on until it is all covered.

For the stem I used a real pumpkin stem I had from last year.  I dry my stems each year so I have them for the next years projects.  Here is another pumpkin project I did.  And you find how I did a centerpiece with pumpkins here.

My total for my project was free because I had everything.  But for those who do not here is the breakdown:

$1 for pumpkin from dollar store

$1.75 for the yarn 30% off at Hobby Lobby and I only used 1/4 of it.

Total $2.75

Now I know you will want to go and visit my friends and see their projects.

Rustic Cozy Fall Living Room

This week in our Fall series, decorating one room at a time, we have been sharing our living rooms. On Monday I shared my mood board with you for my coffee table display. You can find that here. Yesterday I showed you how I set it up on my Facebook page. You can click below to see the video.

https://www.facebook.com/JunkToGems

Today I am going to show you the different spaces created in my living room to help it feel cozy and to add some fall elements.

My hutch area, this is a fun piece to decorate for the seasons. I kept it simple, just some pumpkins and my leaf blocks. You can find them here.

https://www.etsy.com/shop/JunktoGemsByCorine?ref=seller-platform-mcnav

This corner is always fun to decorate. It is kind of a dead space in the room so I always fill it with seasonal items.

I love these fall pillows, you get four covers for under $18. I like inexpensive and cute!

And my divided storage piece my hubby made me I Love! I put some dried hydrangeas in it along with some small Boo Pumpkins. These Hydrangeas are not real but they look real close.

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of my living room?

Cozy farmhouse Decorating for a Fall Entryway

Today I am sharing how I decorated my entryway/mudroom for Fall.

I am joining Terrie and Tammy for our Fall series on decorating a room at a time for Fall. As I shared in this post our mudroom is well used everyday. That being said, I still want it to be cozy and pretty as well as functional for our needs.

You can visit my Fall kitchen post here.

I started by cleaning the whole room. And may I say for such a small area it desperately needed cleaned! I then mopped and put away all the unseasonal items we had out there. And like always I rearranged some of the decorating items.

I added a leaf garland around the shelf. And then I added a pretty wreath on my vintage door that I had added as wall decor. Then I just neded to add a few pumpkins and sunflowers. I have to say it felt instantly more cozy adding these items. I kept it simple so the room could still function as it needs too.

Now when I walk in I smile! We are slowly getting ready for Fall. Next week is the living room.

Here are some of the items I used:

Have a beautiful weekend sweet friend and God Bless!

Decorating for Fall/Autumn in the Entryway or Mudroom

Entryway or mudroom which do you have? Ours I would consider a small mudroom. Basically because that is our only easy access to the home. So our barn boots are placed out there and all of our coats we wear for chores get hung out there. It is a much used mudroom. But it is also our point of entry for our home that is easier for guests to come in.

This week for we continue our Fall series of decorating a room at a time. Can you guess what this week is? Yep the entry/mudroom area. Be sure and check out Tammys and Terrie’s blog posts. If you didin’t see last weeks room click here

That being said I like to keep it somewhat pretty and inviting. I am going to show you the ugly right now and real life.

I told you It needs some prettying up! I plan to put a beautiful leaf garland that I bought around the ledge. Here is that garland it is very full and beautiful.

And I also plan to add a Fall wreath like this one:

This one is beautiful too:

I will add a few pumpkins to the area too. I am just not sure where yet. Here are some I recently purchased that are nice and inexpensive. And I love the stems on them.

As an Amazon Associate I may make a small amount of money if you purchase through my links. And I greatly appreciate it. I try to only showcase products I have purchased or know of someone that has and gives it a good review.

And obviously I really need to clean and organize it first. If you have any good organizing tips or items you use for a small mudroom, please share.

Here are a couple of Fall decorating diys I have done.

On Thursday we will be sharing our entryway videos on our Facebook pages.

Thank you for visiting and God Bless!

Rustic Autumn Hutch and Decorating in the Kitchen

Last years kitchen

It’s here the last day for our Fall series in the kitchen with my friends. Did that sound like a kids song or what? Today Terrie with https://decorateandmorewithtip.com/ and Tammy https://patinaandpaint.com/ are finishing decorating our kitchens for Fall or Autumn, which do you call it? In the north here we call it Fall. Okay I’m sorry got off on a rabbit trail again.

We are all decorating a hutch. My hutch is on the other side of the kitchen as I have told you before and is used for my small appliances and all my canisters. But I do like to add some pretty items that can be functional too.

Here is a before:

I added my glass jars for canisters. I then added my jadeite butter dish and salt and pepper shakers.

I added some of my copper mugs that I love! And i added some other copper items that we use. On the top I added a vintage basket I had and put my vintage blue mason jars in it for storage. To the side of that I put a Fall sign I had won in a giveaway on Instagram last year. You can find that cute shop here.

How to make a Fall Centerpiece

Be sure and visit my friends kitchens for some more inspiration.

Thank you for stopping by and God Bless!

How to make a Fall Centerpiece

Today my friends Terrie from https://decorateandmorewithtip.com/ and Tammy from https://patinaandpaint.com/ are making some centerpieces for our kitchen tables and or kitchen island.

I showed you how I made this chunky yarn pumpkin the other day. As promised I wanted to show you how to create a centerpiece with it. You can find that here and here.

My kitchen island is always a struggle for as to what to put on it for a centerpiece. I don’t know why but it always is a block for me to figure out. Because of the wall behind it with the open shelves I don’t want it to look too busy.

Above is last years Fall decorations. I decided to just keep it simple by adding a large old bowl I had in white, shocking I know. I am a neutral girl, I add color in by the accessories. Fall is the time to really add in color. I put some raffia and some brown excelsior in the bowl. After that I added my largest chunky yarn pumpkin and filled in around it with smaller pumpkins and some faux leaves. As soon as my Indian corn is ready I will add in a few of them.

I am really liking it! How about you? Now be sure and visit my friends below.

How to Make a Yarn Pumpkin

As you know My friends Terrie and Tammy and I are doing a Fall home series. This week is the kitchen. This craft I am showing you today is going to be going in my kitchen somewhere. That place, I will show on Thursday. and how I decorated that area of my kitchen. You can find some of my Fall decorating from last year here.

I found this adorable fuzzy yarn pumpkin at my favorite craft store. But it was fifty dollars, no thank you. That being said I knew I needed to figure out how to make one. If I go back to that store I will try and take a picture of the original inspiration pumpkin to show you.

First I bought a paper mache pumpkin which was half off. I already had this braided yarn at home I knew I would use. The tools I used were a hot glue gun and scissors.

I started by measuring and cutting the yarn strands to the size I need to go from top to bottom. I did not want to cover the bottom and make it look like a circle. I wanted it to be able to sit on it’s own. Then I just started gluing the strands on each indentation of the pumpkin. And then I filled in between each of them.

I love how it turned out! I took the leaves off I thought they made it look more like an apple. My real pumpkins do not have leaves near their stems. Then I added a dried pumpkin stem I had saved from last year for just this purpose. For a little extra I added some raffia tied around the stem.

What do you Think? I hope you join us ladies as we Fall decorate our homes with you each week on our Facebook pages. Here is mine.

I will be sharing their videos on my Facebook page also so you can be sure to see their decorating.

I will share some similar products you can find by clicking on the pictures. As an Amazon associate I may make a small portion from a sale. And for that I am very grateful to you.

Have a beautiful day friends and God Bless!

Do I need more Pumpkins?

I have been battling Vertigo for a few days. I tell you what It could put a damper on my life. So any prayers would be greatly appreciated. That being said,

I did manage to go through my pumpkins and I realize I need a little pumpkin refresh! Shhhh don’t tell my hubby, he is not in agreeance. I loved some I had seen at Hobby Lobby and was trying to figure out if it would be worth it, money wise to make some or if it would be a wash. Hobby Lobby has theirs for 40 percent off.

As you know my friends and I are decorating our rooms for a Fall series.

Our first room is the kitchen. Working on my island centerpiece has always been a challenge for some reason. I am hoping my vision I have for this Fall centerpiece comes together like I want it too. I will be showing you the pumpkin I am doing and some paper bag leaves on Wednesday on my Facebook page for the centerpiece. Here is a picture of the starting of my kitchen Fall decorating. I love the wreath you see in the mirror. It is form the new Hearth and Hand fall line at Target. You can find it here.

Here is last year’s kitchen you can see it here.

You will want to go over to Tammy and Terrie’s blog to see how their kitchen is coming along.

Fall Inspiration for the Kitchen

This week Tammy, Terrie and me are starting a new series. Decorating each room for Fall. Next week we are starting in the kitchen. I will be showing you my kitchen hutch. First I am going to create a mood board to kind of let you know where I am going with my decorating in there. My hutch has decorating items and needs to have my useful items in it too. That being said I want it to look like it blends with the rest of my home too.

I am excited to get this done. I have never had my hutch quite the way I wanted it. And i think adding the copper over on that wall and adding a basket will help it to blend in with the rest of the room and add texture to the space.

Here is my hutch now:

I will be decorating this on my Facebook page on next week and I will share that here. Now visit my friends blogs to see the inspiration they will be sharing.

Stay tuned sweet friends and God Bless!!
