How to Make Winter Buildings from Dollar Store houses

As promised I am going to be sharing a fun diy craft each week until Christmas. Here is last weeks craft. These were so fun to make!

I bought these dollar store buildings with the intent to make them go with my decorating style.

From the pumpkins in the back you can tell I bought these early. As I was thinking about how and what I wanted to do to them. I came up with my white and wood theme that I love so I know I wanted to put wood shutters on them. I found this at the dollar store too.

I spray painted the houses, it did take three coats. And i took the small pallet apart.

Then I stained the wood pieces with my raw umber paint watered down. And I added Snow tex to the buildings in areas I thought snow would naturally fall. And then I added mica flakes, I love mica flakes they add so much to a snow scene. I’ll put the brand I ordered down below for you it lasts forever.

Doesn’t it add just the right touch? After that I cut my wood pieces in half and just hot glued them on where I wanted them.

They go really well with my other glitter metal house from Goodwill I bought years ago.

Are you going to try and make some? If you do share on my Facebook page I would love to see them. As promised here are some of the items I used to make these houses pretty.

As a disclosure I am an amazon influencer and do make a slight amount if you purchase from my links which helps me and my family. Thank you form the bottom of my heart.

God Bless and have a beautiful day!
