Diy Salvaged Window Greenhouse

I’m so excited as I write this, I have asked my hubby for years to help me make one of these.

I’ve saved windows I’ve picked from the side of the road. Some of these I’ve had 10 years.

I promise I’m not a hoarder, Okay I might be of old chippy items! But can you blame me? Don’t really answer that!

First we put the windows together to find out which way I wanted them to be connected. I didn’t have four of the same size so we improvised. We screwed all of these together right into the frames. Then we put a small frame around the top to even out the space on top of the windows (since they were not all the same size) that way we had something to nail the rafters to.

Then we cut some boards to put on the bottom for the floor. and we cut some old spindles I had (I told you I save things) and used them for the legs. We screwed them on before continuing with the top.

Florr is not nailed on here

Then he made some “rafters” from some smaller boards we had. And then we used some old galvanized steel roofing, yes I had that laying around too, okay I may have a problem. We screwed that to the top and bottom roof boards.

The fourth window that we didn’t screw to the other boards, we used a couple of hinges to attach it to the end of one of the other windows to act as the door.

I’m going to hang a cute sign from the top yet. I love it! I’m going to move it out by the garden where there is more sunlight. Then I am going to move my baby plants out in there. Here is a pic after I hung the sign now to get my plants in there.

We did this absolutely free! So maybe it maybe it pays to be a hoarder .

God Bless!

  2. Oh, I love this!! How charming! I have a collection of windows I’ve been hoarding for this kind of project. Yours is beautiful!

  3. Oh, this is so cute. I just love it. I have been thinking about a greenhouse but don’t have the room. This might have just answered my prayers. Thank you.
